EXAMINE EVERY STARTER CLEVELAND Ohio July 22 Each horse to race daily at Thistle Down is given a thorough examination Dr T C Fitzgerald state veterinarian and Dr L Gibson track veterinarian visit the barns of the days starters after scratch time daily and exam ine the performers for heart respiration temperature nostrils membranes eyes knees tendons and ankles They inquire as to the animals appetite inspect his coat of hair and in the event of a mare examine her tosee if she is in season Two reports are made and are signed by the owner trainei or groom and the veterinarians One of the reports is left with the owner trainer or groom and the other is filed with the stew ¬ ards
