LESS SPEED TO SAVE GAS PLEA PLEAWASHINGTON WASHINGTON D C June 11 The American Automobile Association reported to Petroleum CoOrdinator Ickes yesterday that slower driving would solve threatened gasoline and oil shortages in the East The association declared reduced speeds would cut gasoline and oil consumption on the Atlantic seaboard 20 per cent or more than the amount of the calculated shortage Ickes termed the suggestion a very real contribution to the situation and added slower speeds are desirable because there is too fast driving for ordinary safety any ¬ way
