STARS AND STRIPES TOPS HOLIDAY CARD CARDExpect Expect to Handle Larger Crowd Than July 4 Last Year Lassie Northwestern Also Scheduled ScheduledARLINGTON ARLINGTON HEIGHTS 111 June 28 Three feature events representing 22500 in added money will be decided during Ar ¬ lington Parks big holiday week which gets under way on Monday The race that will attract the most attention is of course the thirteenth running of the 10000 added Stars and Stripes Handicap which will feature the Fourth of July program on Friday but in addition the 2500 added Northwestern Handicap will be run off on Wednesday while on Saturday the twelfth running of the 10000 added Lassie Stakes will be the feature featureMuch Much gratified by the response which the opening weeks program met with from both the racing fans and horsemen the Arlington Park management is making plans to handle an even larger crowd than the 46000 which turned out for the Fourth of July last year if good weather prevails on Friday With that in view the infield will be thrown open on that day to handle the extra attendance with arrangements being made to insure every convenience for the crowd which watches the racing from there thereThe The Northwestern Handicap which will feature Wednesdays program was origi ¬ nally named the Inaugural Handicap and was the banner event on the openingday card for years but because it is being run the second week of the meeting this year the name was changed Conditions are the same as in the past however and they call for threeyearolds and upwards to contest over seven furlongs Among those expected to go to the post in this event is Huntley Shers Kings Blue winner of the Myrtle wod Handicap here on opening day and the Steger Handicap at Lincoln Fields in a prior effort the Lexbrook Stables Potranco the Walmac Farms Bushwhacker Calumet Farms Easy Mon and Bay Carse Woolford Farms Technician and Unerring Milky Way Farms Up the Creek Valdina Farms Viscounty and Valdina Groom Junius W Bells Steel Heels John Marschs To A Tee Mrs Emil Denemarks War Minstrel and Equistar and Stroube Collins Exarch are some of the other nominees for the North ¬ western All told there were twentynine named for this race raceNOMINEES NOMINEES FOB TWO STAKES STAKESOf Of those named for the Northwestern Bay Carse Technician and Unerring War Minstrel To A Tee Up the Creek Galla liadion Viscounty and Valdina Paul are also nominated for the mile and oneeighth Stars and Stripes Handicap HandicapIn In view of that fact it is possible that some of the horses may start in both the Stars and Stripes and in the Northwestern but that is doubtful because they come rather close together For that reason it should be possible to get a good line on the possible starters in the 10000 added holiday feature by the time the entries are made for the Northwestern on Tuesday TuesdayThe The Belair Studs Fenelon was assigned top weight of the Stars and Stripes Handi ¬ cap at 124 pounds The Calumet Farms Whirlaway was assigned 120 pounds but Ben Jones had previously declared that the Blenheim II colt was not going to the post in the holiday feature featureMrs Mrs Marie Evans Shot Put winner of the La Salle Handicap at Lincoln Fields is expected to be among those who will go to the post on the holiday The Chance Shot gelding gets in with 118 pounds Gallahad ion and Viscounty loom as possible starters and are bracketed at 116 pounds Other almost certain starters on the grounds are Howard Wells Equifox Milky Way Farms Gallahadion Millsdale Stables Sun Lover Junius W Bells Steel Heels William C Stroubes Sirasia Mrs Emil Denemarks Idle Sun and The Barrington Stables Olympus
