Fifty-Three Nominated For Mayflower Stakes Top Juveniles to Seek Renewal Of Suffolk Fixture on July 17 BOSTON, Mass., June 22.— Fifty-three top two-year-olds have been named for the July 17 running of the 5,000 added Mayflower Stakes at Suffolk Downs. Practically every high class juvenile in the East is in the line-up of thoroughbred talent, the pick of the crop as seen in action at Suffolk Downs, New York, Maryland and other turf strongholds. The 1943 renewal of the Mayflower, its third under a 5,000 tag, always attracts a representative field of youngsters, counting among its winners such as Heather Town, Roman Flag, Blue Pair, Alsab and Through Bound. The stake and course record is the l:044i, which Through Bound hung up a season ago as he galloped to a 4,550 pot of gold.
