Firestone, sold Melody to Edward Green of Cham-paign, 111., and the filly performed under her new owners colors in the eighth race at Washington Park today. Dan Hardy will take over the youngsters training, Ward saddling her for todays engagement. Jockey Pliney Johnson was fined 00 for failing to keep Last Chick straight in the run through the stretch in the third race at Washington Park today. Phelps has here will remain until the close of the meeting. Deverne Emery, who has several horses here, was notified to report to his selective service board in Chicago for a physical examination. Emery leaves here Tuesday night. Eli Long has made preparations to ship his horses to Toledo, Ohio. The shipment may get away in a few days. C. H. McMillan, starter at Fairmount Park, is at Toledo, putting his gat in condition for that meeting which begins next Saturday. Only six claims have been filed during the current meeting. Top price paid for a horse via the claiming route was the ,750 paid by W. E. Thompson for Little Red Fox who was claimed from D. C. Wil-helm. Jockey J. Dobson packed his tack and departed for Toledo. Jockey Herb Chinn plans leaving here Thursday for Toledo. ,
