I Kentucky Notes j KEENELAND at Churchill Downs Louisville, Ky., April 17. Frank Dwyer. a veteran of the clubhouse staff at Churchill Downs, is back at his post to serve through the combined Keene-land and Churchill Downs meeting. William Skidmore made his debut in the saddle Saturday on Midkiff and Cookes juvenile colorbearer. Martharine, in the first race. Skidmore, under contract to W. J. Raybould, is 22 years old and hails from Lexington, Ky.. and has been exercising horses for about five years. Horsemen who have their charges quartered at Douglas Park were advised today that a stall gate will be available for schooling classes daily. Jockey Harry Hart, contract rider for the stable trainer Harry Trotsek is conditioning here, received his notice today to report for induction into the armed forces. Jockey George Napier deposited his tack in the jockeys room and reported to trainer C. C. Kranz. Napier has not ridden for nearly a year due to a broken leg he sustained in a spill last spring. Jockey Elvie Husts riding engagements for the combined spring meeting will be made by C. L. Edwards. Hust is under contract to J. C. Ellis. Lucas B. Combs, owner of Runners Rest, and Thomas Piatt, breeder of Alsab. were among the number of Lexington breeders to witness the inaugural program. James Powers, owner of the Dearborn Stable, made an inspection of his horses here Saturday. He will be here for several j days. Here from Chicago for a short visit John J. Greely reports that his son. J. J. Greely. Jr.. a recent inductee into the marines, is stationed near San Antonio, Texas.
