The Governors is for three-year-olds and upward, and its purse value is ,000 added. Nominations for the handicap will close May 13, and weights will be announced May 16. The distance is one and one-sixteenth miles. The first running of the Governors, 1939, saw Darby Dan Farms Francesco romp home in front. Francescos time 1:44% still stands as the track record for the distance. River Divide Farms High Fidelity won the Governors in 1940, while Mucho Gusto carried the colors of W, J. Sprow to victory in the stake the following year. Best Seller took the Governors both in 1942 and 1943. Beulah Parks spring meeting will open May 6 and continue through May 30.
