First of four juvenile endowed offerings at this combined meeting of Marylands four major tracks, brings together 11 youngsters to do battle over four and one-half furlongs. Few of the entrants have as yet distinguished themselves. This fact further contributes to the chances of Mrs. Colin MacLeods Timeless, high weight at 122 pounds and hero of the Hialeah Juvenile Stakes during Miamis winter season. That effort was all the more noteworthy considering that the colts jockey had been forced to hand-ride after losing his whip. Incidentally, on that occasion the son of Grand Time — Movie Lass defeated, among others, Don Chance, who is to carry 119 pounds tomorrow while representing W. A. Coleman. Four of the other claimants to this fixture presented at Bowie under normal conditions met here recently in the same race. And the quartet took the first four positions. Sylvester W. Labrot, Jr.s Shako was winner of that tilt, with Mrs. J. H. Stotlers Peace Parley second, Brookfield Farms Sea Bees third and H. W. Fieldings Faba fourth. Hoop Jr. in Headliner Viewing the opportunities of these youngsters with reservations, since for the most part they have not as yet found themselves, would seem that Timeless holds the edge, entitling him to favoritism, with the possibility that Shako or Peace Parley are capable of furnishing strong contention. Particularly so since it is very probable that both needed that first race. Shako will carry 116 pounds, Peace Parley 112, Sea Bees 112 and Faba 109. Others in the field are Panacea, 116 pounds and equal weight with Hoop Jr., Alexis, 112, and Sea Raft and Lubra 109. Two-year-olds being an unknown quantity, it may so happen that the Kindergarten could evolve into a very interesting fray. Incidentally, Timeless is among nominees to the other three juvenile stakes yet to be decided and which are the Aberdeen, a regular feature of Havre de Graces meeting when that track operated; the Ralph Parr and Pimlico Nursery Stakes. The latter two are usual Pimlico affairs. Tomorrows eight-race program includes four claiming events, the aforementioned stake, an allowance test for two -year -old fillies, another allowance race, but for four-year-olds and older and at a mile and 70 yards, and a steeplechase event. Seven chasers have been named for this two-mile brush trial for four-year-olds and upward. Only Pat Ganado is among starters not named to the lone jumping stake, the 0,-000 added Jervis Spencer, at two miles, and to be contested Friday, May 5. Those in tomorrows offering that are eligible comprise Bank Note, Frederic II.. Caddie. Bill Coffman, Burma Road and Ossabaw. A claiming event at six furlongs, for four-year-olds and older foaled in Maryland, will open the program at "high noon."
