License Applications May Be Filed at Track Notary Public to Be on Hand At Sportsmans Park Today Following a complete survey of the entire grounds, general manager William H. Johnston, who arrived from Florida late Monday, stated that the entire Sportsmans Park plant was in such excellent condition that they could open tomorrow if necessary. The National Jockey Club meeting will inaugurate the Illinois season on Saturday. April 29. Johnston also reminded turfmen that all must file applications for licenses, owners being included this year under new regulations adopted by the Illinois Racing Board and that for their convenience a notary public will be on hand in the racing secretarys office today from 11 a. m. to 3 p. m. to notarize their forms. With outrider Harry Miller having been inducted into the Navy, his post will be taken over by former jockey Warren Yar-berry, who rode with pronounced success on Midwestern tracks some years ago, and who at one time was under contract to the late Joseph E. Widener. Johnston also stated that Dr. M. F. Kent would serve as the associations veterinarian. Meanwhile, horses are continuing to arrive dairy until now the colony at the half-miler and Hawthorne comprises approximately 700 head. John Bainton unloaded his eight charges, which include the consistent Cabin Creek, from Glenn D. Woods stable. Bainton came from Florida while trainer R. J. Rossi arrived from Hot Springs with Top Boots and three others who carry the silks of Duke Tailet. The Illinois turfman, Clarence Davison, will have seven head for campaigning during the 14-day meeting.
