Ashland Ashland Stakes Stakes Easy Easy for for Harriet Harriet Sue; Sue; Timeless Timeless Extends Extends Win Win Streak Streak to to Four Four MacLeod Juvenile I Remains Unbeaten Takes Bowie Kindergarten Renewal Over Hoop Jr. by Three and One-Half Lengths BALTIMORE, Md., April 19— Timeless ran away and hid from his juvenile contemporaries in the 17th running of the ,000 Bowie Kindergarten Stakes at Pim-lico this afternoon. The Virginia-bred representative of Mrs. Colin MacLeod had tilings his own way after the first quarter of a mile and this permitted him to stroll leisurely across the finish three and one-half lengths before the charging but failing Hoop Jr.. from the stable of F. W. Hooper. Third award was garnered by Sylvester W. Labrot, Jr.s, Shako, while Don Chance, Sea Bees and Sea Raft completed the field in the named order. Over a slow track and before some 10,000 fans. Timeless covered the four and one-half furlongs in :5625- Strictly speaking, he was the "class" of the test, having first come into prominence with a triumph in the Hialeah Juvenile Stakes this past winter and, naturally, the public jumped on his bandwagon. As favorite he was responsible for a .40 for payoff and earned ,150 for his stint. Usually this endowed race is offered at Bowie, but war-time conditions, resulting in presentation of a combination meeting here of Marylands four major tracks brought to this course certain stakes identified with the three other tracks. Incidentally, this is the first such two-year-old event of the meeting. Westrope in Saddle The MacLeod youngster had the services of Jack Westrope, who sent his mount quickly to the front. During the early running Don Chance attempted to overhaul Timeless. Through the first quarter of a mile this challenge was bothersome to the son of Grand Time. He set about shaking off the threat and did it rounding the far bend Entering the stretch. Westrope shook up the smooth-running juvenile and he bounded away. Hoop Jr. showed a game effort, getting away none too alertly and consequently had to move forward the hard way, making up ground through the stretch when too late. The program began on a satisfactory note for "chalk" players when Gallant Mowlee imposed his will on 11 other platers of the ,500 classification. He was prominent from the start, and attained his objective by simply moving into command entering the stretch, then drawing away to a two and on -half lengths score over Punch-drunk. Golden Babe was third. In the second, Ginger Man registered an upset, as he hung up his initial success of the year. Toonerville essayed to run away from his adversaries in the first stages, but was unable to draw off from the persistent Ginger Man.
