MATTIE SUE, forwardly placed the first quarter, moved between horses entering the stretch, was taken to the inside and assumed command inside the final sixteenth to draw out. CAIDS BEST saved ground on the final turn to gain contention and responded willingly in the final furlong. MISREPRESENT, prominently placed, had no mishap. ERIC KNIGHT showed speed in setting the early pace, then faltered in the drive. CI LIGHT closed with a good effort. SUNSET BOY assumed command entering the stretch, then quit badly in the final sixteenth. CADMUS rider lost his stirrups nearing the end of the backstretch. LOCAL FINANCE was kept near the pace in the run down the backstretch, responded to urging rounding the final turn and wore down HAPPY PAT inside the final quarter. The latter was sent up between horses on the turn, assumed a short lead entering the stretch, then held on with good courage when displaced. JOHNSTOWN KID raced evenly to the head of the stretch, then closed fast on the outside. GREEN GARDEN assumed command soon after the beginning, was steadied along while enjoying a clear lead, but faltered midway of the turn. GAY MARINE was unable to menace. HIGHEST BID raced evenly. STAGE LINE weakened in the final furlong. MARY N0VICK was outrun. SILENT ROSE showed nothing. Overweight— Local Finance, 4 pounds; Johnstown Kid, 1; Highest Bid, 3; Mary Novick, 31. CEE RAF, well handled when outrun to the final quarter, responded to stout urging entering the stretch, wore down MAGIC HASTE inside the final sixteenth and won drawing out. CRAB APPLE closed fast through the stretch to nip MAGIC HASTE at the end. The latter remained closest to the early pace, moved into command when ready, then faltered under intermittent pressure. ARABS LADY, going well within striking distance, moved up entering the final furlong, then flattened out. SIRGANO showed early speed, was in command in the backstretch, but weakened nearing the stretch. SNAZY was never a serious contender. MINNAS AGENT quit after three-quarters. PAY ME saved ground into the first turn, drew clear under light restraint on the backstretch, set a fast pace to the stretch turn, then was shaken up nearing the furlong post and was ridden out to hold LANDN SEA safe. The latter, prominently placed under a tight hold until the end of the stretch, moved up on the outside to challenge for the lead, but was unable to reach the winner. RED FLARE, close up early, saved ground leaving the backstretch, was under strong urging on the turn and held on gamely. WEATHERCOCK, under a tight hold for five furlongs, moved up nearing the far turn, then faltered. COLD BLAST was outrun. JOAN ELISE was not persevered with in the final quarter. JOCK, forwardly placed in the first quarter, responded to pressure in the final furlong to get up in the final sixteenth and was drawing out at the end. HEYORTA, under light urging early, held on gamely under intermittent pressure through the stretch. BRIGHT SIGNAL, sent into command soon after the beginning, maintained a short advantage while saving ground, then faltered under pressure in the late stages. SON OF TARRA, well placed, was forced wide entering the stretch, then closed willingly. SLENDER LADY closed fast after being outrun for a half mile. MAR DESPRIT was unable to reach the leaders. NIGHT BOMBER was devoid of early speed. HIDDEN ACE raced evenly. NEW BOOM showed nothing. ONECBILL was through after a quarter. HEX was outrun. HENRY PAYNE quit. GOTHIC, under a tight hold within striking distance of the pace, moved with BOY SOLDIER on the outside rounding the far turn, came out in front entering the stretc hand outlasted BOY SOLDIER. The latter made his move leaving the backstretch, came between horses to get abreast of the leaders, then held on with determination. SNAFU was hard held while alternating in setting the pace with TOWAKEE, dropped back on the turn into the stretch, then came again under sout pressure. CREEPIN assumed command when ready, was under a snug hold to the head of the stretch, then, placed under intermittent pressure, held HER REPLY safe. The latter, in close attendance of the pace down the backstretch, moved up to challenge leaving the quarter post, then failed to gain under steady urging. FLYING SILVER held on well after being displaced. LUCKY IRISH raced evenly and was never a serious threat. SAVING closed fast on the inside in the final furlongs. SHA WHAN was unable to keep up. PLANE SPOTTER had no mishap. OVER THE DAM was outrun.
