Daily Racing Form Speed Ratings The handicafcpers and statisticians of DAILY RACING FORM bare evolved a Speed Rating system that is far superior to any yet devised. Instead of being based merely on track records, the ratings are based primarily on the constant, or mean, speed of the track, allowances thus being made for variation in footing. By this method, when a horse earns a rating of, say 85, for a six-furlong race at Belmont Park, he earns the same rating by the same effort at any other track. 8 peed ratings are shown in the past performances after the claiming price tc race classification.
