. i Fancy Food Game Winner at Downs Defeats Favored Blue Fox; Church Astride Triple and Trotsek Sends Out Double By DON FAIR CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville. Ky., May 15. — Fancy Food, a homebred son of Hash and Tea Gown, carried Donald H. MacLanes colors to a game triumph here today in the Market Wise Purse. Jockey William McKinley Cook, who completed a saddle double astride the MacLane colt, rode an excellent race, his mount reaching the finish of the six-furlong feature three-quarters of a length before L. M. Crosleys Blue ,Fo.x, favorite for the sprint. Slightly more than two lengths back, Brent and Talbots Rebel Raider gave a sharp effort to earn the minor portion of the purse by less than a length from Meadowbrook Stables Poltroon, fourth. Fancy Food, second in two previous starts at the local course, raced the Market Wise distance in a creditable 1:11% and, overlooked in the speculation by the majority, of those present, returned backers 5.00 in the straight "tote" pool after whipping his 10 three-year-old rivals. Establishes Clear Lead Fancy Food hustled to the front soon after the start of the Market Wise and he established a clear advantage before going a quarter mile. Blue Fox was away rather tardily but found racing room next the inner rail during the early furlongs and he was but three lengths off the MacLane colt coming out of the upper turn. Poltroon occupied third position and All Is On raced in fourth place at that juncture. When settled for the drive to the wire. Fancy Food still held to a good lead but Blue Fox responded readily to Angel Riveras brisk urging and the latter gelding cut Fancy Foods margin gradually in the run to the final marker. Fancy Food, however, had enough left to repulse Blue Fox challenge, while the latter was an easy second over Rebel Raider, who raced evenly through the stretch. Poltroon was not under severe pressure to save fourth money from Flying Rules, who finished rather well under punishment. Jockey Church won his third race of the day when he scored with Mrs. Clyde Continued on Page Three I 1 Fancy Food Game Winner Of Headliner at Downs Church Astride Triple, Trainer Trotsek Chalks Up Two Victories Continued from Page One Troutts former stakes winner, Take Wing, in the nine furlongs seventh. Ideal weather prevailed today as the final week of the Churchill Downs spring meeting began. A crowd of approximately 6,000 regular patrons turned out for the sport, which was decided over fast footing. The racing strip took a thorough soaking last Thursday and Friday, "but the warm sun over the week-end and a workmanlike job on. the part of general superintendent Tom Youngs track crew brought the Derby course back into top shape. The clever combination of trainer Harry Trotsek and jockey Kenneth Church rounded out a double when Mrs. E. Farris Dicks Gal drove to a game verdict in the six-furlong fifth race, Trotsek having previously hoisted Church into the saddle on Idle Jane, who carried Mrs. Trotseks silks successively in the five-furlong opener. Church had to use all of his skill in piloting Dicks Gal home first in the secondary attraction, for Tom.. B. Youngs Lambent finished with a rush under Steve Brooks and just missed. Two lengths back, S. I. Crews Concrete ran third in a good effort and easily distanced Mrs. Frank P. Letelliers Chall Amaze, fourtrrin the field of eight starters.
