Cox, Walters Named Stars Of Southwest Track Meet AUSTIN, Texas, May 15 UP . — Texas Bob Walters and Rices Tom Cox were chosen today as the outstanding performers of the 1950 Southwest Conference track and field meet and will lead Southwest athletes in competition with the Big Seven, June 3. Cox nosed out Charley Parker, of Texas, by one vote on the basis of his record 46.9 performance in the quarter-mile sprint and his anchor dash in Rices record 3: 14.3 .mile relay. Walters cleared the high jump bar at 6 feet, 8% inches, toppling the old conference mark in the best height posted anywhere in the nation this year. The Texas star then moved to the pole vault pit, where he tied with Don Graves, of Texas A. and M., for the championship with a vault of 13 feet, 6 inches.
