JUANA assumed command soon after the start, drew clear on the far turn, skirted the inner rail, gave way to FICKLE-MAN in the stretch, but would not give up and outgamed the latter FICKLE-MAN moved around horses on the far turn, gained command in the stretch, but was too confidently handled. LITTLE AUD, forwardly placed, lacked a rally while holding the* others safe. PHIL HARRIS, forwardly placed soon after the start, was steadied when outrun, rallied mildly when roused, but was unable to menace. BILL HOWK had no mishap. SNEAK went evenly. LIEUTENANT, slow to begin, was unable to menace with a mild rally BEMMY.was unable to keep up. SUN BUD outran the field, was steadied after gaining a comfortable lead, skirted the inner rail throughout and outgamed MARINE CHARGER through the final furlong. MARINE CHARGER moved to the leader after six furlongs, gained a slight advantage, but was not good enough. SALLIEQUELO, sluggish in the early stages; worked his way up along the inside, but was unable to menace. CHANCELING was best of the others. SILVER SKIPPER made up ground from off the pace. I FORGOT was hustled to get the early lead, rode MUSCAT close on the first turn, drew clear and increased the margin down the backstretch, skirted the inner rail and was under intermittent pressure to the end. SEABRIGHT improved position gradually, but was not good enough. BOSS H. closed with good energy from off the pace. COUNT EASTER went evenly. EXECUTION showed nothing. BEAU-BEAU was never prominent. CAMPAIGNER improved position gradually. SUN RUSHER, never far off the pace, failed to menace under the late drive. BASIS flattened out in the late stages. WENTWORTH dropped back at the start, was sent around the outside entering the stretch and finished with good energy. ETERNAL WAY showed brief speed. MISS STONE had no mishap. RELATED showed good speed from the start, moved abreast the leaders in the stretch and flattened out U. S. NAVY was hustled to command at once, gave way after three furlongs, continued on gamely under pressure, but was not good enough. BLENTIGO closed stoutly along the inside. DUKES GAL showed an even effort. DAUNTEDID was sent up on the outside to take command before a hal fmile, then quit. MESTIZA was never prominent. The others were outrun. Overweight— U. S. CHARLESTON, steadied for the first quarter mile, began working his way toward the leader on the far turn, saved ground to overtake DUKE AUMAR and was hard ridden to hold SUN RENE safe. The latter broke, alertly, was under steadying restraint while in closest attendance of the leader, was poorly handled on the turns when allowed to go wide and then closed resolutely through the stretch. DUKE AUMAR opened a clear lead at once, was kept in on the turns, shortened stride and weakened in the late stages. AMPHIBLEN showed nothing. SPATS was never prominent. . EMPTY SEA, bothered leaving the gate, was rushed to get command, set the pace for six furlongs and weakened. PROUD SIR forced the pace for six furlongs before weakening. TONY JAY broke into EMPTY SEA at the start, was straightened, went along in close attendance of the pace for six furlongs and flattened out. LEFT WINGER was outrun. Overweight— Proud Sir, 5 pounds.
