CONTY BAY, in hand to the last three-eighths mile, took command from PERSIAN CLAW after entering the stretch and, continuing willingly under urging, held G-TWO safe. The latter, well placed from the start and never far back, closed determinedly under punishment but could not overtake the winner. DEVILS IMAGE attempted to bear out until reaching the stretch and finished well under punishment but was not good enough for the leaders. PERSIAN CLAW took an early lead, set the pace until inside the stretch, but failed to stay when challenged by CONTY BAY. FELICITATION had early foot but tired badly during the drive. CHEROKEE CHIEF began sluggishly and raced far back the entire trip. Scratched— 19025 Man of Destiny. 117: 191364 Roman Princess. 114: 190213 The Suraecn. 114
