Gay Dalton Surprise Arrival At Santa Anita on Wednesday ARCADIA. Calif.. May 31— Gay Dalton, the Mexico City champion and one of the favorites for the 00,000 Santa Anita Handicap, was a surprise arrival at the Arcadia track yesterday. Track attaches had reported Tuesday that the Denton and Burt racer was not likely to put in an appearance until the latter part of the week, but now that he is on the grounds, interest in the coming stakes, especially the big event, take on new importance. Gay Dalton is one of the greatest "name horses ever to visit Santa Anita. Some old-timers of the sport on the West Coast are hailing him as another Phar Lap. He has won his last nine races, including the Handicap de las Americas. The horse shipped well and trainer Buster Millerick states that after a few light workouts he will be ready to go postward. He will start at least once before the Santa Anita Handicap. Several horses the property of Charles S. Howard were in the shipment with Gay Dalton.
