BILTRITE, in hand while improving position along the backstretch, responded to take command when roused, drew clear, skirted the inner rail and had to be hustled to maintain the lead at the end. RED TAG, slow to settle into best stride, came between horses when put tc pressure and was going well at the end. OMAR BOY, in hand while forwardly placed, lacked a late rally BOLD STAR passed tiring horses along the inside. SASSY CHICK had no mishap. OUR DODO lacked early speed. SAM NORRIS set the pace for five furlongs, then tired. OCEANIA was unable to keep up. The others wero outrun. BUNTYS IMP assumed command under light restraint, was roused after six furlongs, opened a comfortable lead and was never in danger. CORN KING worked his way up along the inside, continued to gain when put to pressure, but was unable to menace. HENRY PAYNE kept close to the pace and rallied mildly. WAR DRESSING lacked a closing rally. RATON passed tiring horses under late urging. TYROL assumed command early, went well for six furlongs, then tired. MELS CHIC rushed boldly after seven furlongs, then hung. ABBYS RHYMER was never prominent. FIRESTRIKER quit GLORY SONG flashed brief speed. The others were outrun. DIMIT, kept within striking distance of the pace, moved around horses on the final turn, engaged for command, responded to pressure and drew clear. CUSTODY raced close to the pace, saved ground and was pressing at the end. WINGED forced the early pace, assumed command and held on gamely to the sixteenth pole before weakening. TRANCE SLEEPER went evenly. WISH EGAN had no mishap. MEZZANINE flashed brief early speed. BIG AND BETTER raced wide. NIGHT TSAR was outrun. LICENSE tarried leaving the gate and was a distant trailer. SPEEDY BABY, steadied when unable to go along, with the rapid pace, drove through along inside to draw abreast the leaders in the stretch, responded to stout urging and edged away near the end. VENTANA outran field to take a clear lead, set a rapid pace and held on stubbornly when challenged. I DIO broke alertly, was taken back and steadied close to the leader, moved on the outside when roused, but was not good enough. JEANS JAY made up ground through the stretch. LEX showed nothing. ABSTRACT assumed command under stout restraint, gave way momentarily to TILENNY, regained command when roused and was under constant pressure to draw out at the end. LAMBENT, taken back off the pace and placed under stout restraint for seven furlongs, moved up steadily along the inside and was going well at the end. CHARLESTON, reserved to the final quarter mile, lacked a closing rally. TILENNY was sent right up on the pace, gained a slight lead and had nothing left for the drive. REGAL had no mishap. SIAMESE, forwardly placed in the early stages, was taken back and kept out of crowding on the far turn, responding gameiy to pressure through the stretch and came between horses to outfinish DARBY DIEPPE. The latter trailed to the final turn, secured room along the inside and finished strongly. TOM FERRIS forced the pace, saved ground, had to be taken up on the final turn, gained command, but was not good enough. AIR GEE raced close to the pace on the outside and held on gamely. CRACK THE WHIP lacked a late rally. WISE MAHMOUD established the pace, tired-after a mile and weakened. KNIGHTS DOLL weakened. NAHUNTA was outrun. THE DRONE, in hand early, was working his way up along the inside when caught in tight quarters on the turn and had to take back. VIRGINIA R. TANGENT, quicket to start bore out going to the first turn, was quickly taken back in and placed under steadying restraint, allowed MARTONNA to gain the lead, rallied when set down to regain command and drew out at the end. MARTONNA drew clear after a half mile, continued to set the pace until the stretch, then held on gamely, although no match for the winner. KINGFISH raced close to the pace, but lacked a closing rally. CANIS MAJOR was taken outside to avoid a jam on the first turn, worked his way up along the inside, but failed to threaten. IRINITA passed tiring horses. HAY ELSIE was never prominent. FINAL DRIVE was on the outside when the leaders went wide, stayed with the pace for a half mile, then tired. CAPSTONE was through early.
