BLACK BAY moved up on the outside to reach the lead before entering the stretch, responded when put to pressure and drew out steadily. EXPECTANT broke alertly, assumed command after a quarter mile, drew out, was unable to shake off the winners bid and held on gamely in the drive. BILLS SUN closed with a rush through the stretch. ASH TRAY, a forward factor, lacked a late rally. QUICK DEAL was unable to draw clear and went evenly after losing the lead. DEBMODE dropped back after the start and raced evenly. LITTLE FERD improved position gradually to gain forward position into the stretch, rallied under late urging and was along to overtake GATOR BAIT. The latter broke sluggishly, worked his way up into command after a half mile and drew out, but shortened stride and tired. . ROSCREA sprinted to a comfortable lead before a half mile, shortened stride and tired badly. SPRING MEETING rallied mildly from slightly off the pace. GOLD QUEST went evenly. DEDUCTIBLE YOU was never a serious factor. PETSIE broke sluggishly and was unable to gain a forward position. GELINKA was used up forcing the pace. The others were outrun. FRIEND JIM worked his way up along the inside to take command Tifter a quarter mile, was steadied while saving ground on the turns, came out slightly in the stretch, responded to pressure to drew clear. WILL TRAVEL, forwardly placed under steadying restraint, vied for command into the stretch, but was no match for the winner. IRONHEARTED rallied mildly from off the pace. JEDGAR moved alertly along the inside to gain a forward position and flattened out in the drive. KAREN L. dropped back after breaking with the field, trailed to the final turn and closed willingly. CHAMP SORTER rallied mildly in the closing furlong. MR. CUMBERLAND, forwardly-placed under light restraint, gained the lead when roused, but was unable to draw clear, and tired in the late stages. TWO LUMPS moved close to the leader along the inside, weakening in the drive. FAIR CLEO showed nothing. AUTUMN GLOW was outrun.
