AIR MAIL was shuffled back soon after the start, moved into contention almost at once, but weakened under pressure. TRENTON SAND lacked the needed rally. JERSEY DEVIL raced for command and weakened. SOFT PEDAL broke tardily. MR. MICHAEL S. failed to reach contention. SKY BLUE trailed. HYDROTOR forged to the front leaving the backstretch and held sway until the final sixteenth. WATCH HERO made up considerable ground. RUFFLER was slow. to respond. SLIDE HOME moved through along the inside to hold a narrow advantage along the backstretch, but weakened badly. BLUE CABOOSE quit.
