NATURAL REWARD guickly set up a clear lead and withstood LA TURBIE to the end. The latter moved closer to the winner into the backstretch and,- while put to severe pressure in the drive, failed to get up. SMILESTONE made a good move leaving the far turn but had no further response. GIM00N was outrun throughout and lugged_in in the stretch run. WARARA was done early. Won driving; second and third the same. SENOR GRINDOYA saved ground into the backstretch and on the final turn, was then taken out to the middle of the track and closed with a strong burst of speed. JOHNS PAL rushed into command before entering the stretch and, after drawing out in the early stretch, could not handle the winner at the end. MR. LAMPASAS shook off the early contenders, had little left when challenged by JOHNS PAL and weakened steadily in the final eighth. .SAILORSVILLE dropped back before a half mile and then could not threaten with a late rally. AUSTIN MACK was devoid of speed. OLD SHEP weakened gradually. PAVETTE reached near even terms with the leader before a half mile but bolted into the stretch and tired. DEEP STUDY took command going to the far turn, drifted out slightly into the stretch and, under strong pressure, held off BARROCO. The latter rushed strongly to the leaders from the outside entering the stretch where he was carried out slightly, then started to lug in in he final run and could not be fully persevered with while showing a sharp effort. SOLDAT followed an uncertain course to the first turn, made a good move leaving the far turn, then, drifting very wide into the stretch, lost all chance. TAP DANCER was shuffled back along the inside, then proved best of the others. TALK LOUDER was urged into close contention on the far turn, then flattened out. RUTH WALLIS weakened along the inside. BANK COAL extended lead going to the far turn and while racing slightly wide into the stretch could not cope with the winner. SHEEPSKIN made a strong move along the inside coming to the stretch, then lacked a further rally RIPOVER could not threaten. NOWS THE TIME was devoid of speed. ALPINO flattened out after a half mile!
