M. Branham. IN GATE— 4:46. OFF AT 4:46J CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. TOURNURE saved ground while under light restraint to the stretch, was taken out for the drive and, responding to strong handling, wore down the leaders and held SUPER DEVIL safe. The latter, outrun to the last quarter mile, closed fast but could not reach the winner. FLORIDIAN began fast, made the pace until well inside the stretch, then faltered. MR. CROONER raced evenly and had no mishap. NIVAL engaged FLORIDIAN to the last eighth mile and then gave way. SOME TAN made a mild bid approaching the stretch and then weakened. WM. L. The latter, never far back, closed determinedly under brisk urging but could not overtake the winner. CEBETTE, outrun early, was sent between horses for the drive and finished fas£. OCEAN KING raced well and had no excuse. CON JOHN tired after racing well to the stretch. GULF STREAM raced prominently for three-quarters mile, then weakened. ALERT BOY began slowly. WHISKAWAVE had no mishap. JAMAICA had brief speed. APPEASE NOT, well placed and saving ground to the stretch, responded willingly when set down in the drive and, after taking command, held SHERPA safe but won with little left. SHERPA took an early lead, set the pace until inside the stretch but was unable to hold the winner. TRIPLE BEE, in hand to the last quarter mile, could not get to the top pair when set down in the drive. CHANTER gave a good performance and had no mishap. AL LAUBHAN raced evenly. TREATY STONE began slowly. DANCE NSING, never prominent, failing to extend himself on the fast track. HASTY FLYER was through early. HALCOLETTE showed nothing. Overweight— Halcolette, 1 pound. Treaty Stone claimed by C. T. Chron, trainer W. Cook. Attendance, 7,500 Estimated; Total Mutuel Pool, 64,940.
