JACOMO WINS THE FRONTIER STAKES. Trotters Gerolstein Colt Takes the Windsor Feature in Most Easy Style. Detroit, Mich., June 15. With the opening of the session at Windsor this afternoon, the Highland Park Club began its summer season on the Northern Circuit. The star feature of the day was the Frontier Stakes, which takes the place of the old Highland Park Derby. This renewal was won by Edward Trotters Gerolstein colt .Tacomo, which proved tn be easily best of the fair field. Jacomo was third choice in the betting, in which Tourenne was favorite and the Goldblatt entry. Fantastic and Morti-boy, the second choice. Fantastic had tbe speed for pacemaking while Jacomo, always a slow beginner, trailed along with the rear division until half a mile from home where he moved up rapidly to the front and drew away to an easy victory in the last furlong. The new Canadian system of booking without booths was tried on the Detroit patrons of the sport for the first time and the eight books did a big business to a fair profit, as three first choices were returned winners. Jockey More-land, who promises to be the best rider at the meeting, was the star of the day, piloting three winners. Previous winners of the Frontier Stakes were: 1902, St. Hera; 1903, Claude; 1904, Zarkee; 1905, Peter Sterling; 1900, King of Troy.
