HAMILTON MEETING COMES TO CLOSE. Martin Doyle Wins the Feature After Question as to His Eligibility Is Settled. Hamilton, Ont., June 15. The most successful meeting in the history of the Hamilton Jockey Club, from a financial as well as a social and racing point, closed today. Torontouians were liberal in their support, tbe average attendance from that place being about 1,000 daily. Over twenty books were on daily and tbe public had an even break with the layers and have no reason to complain. The method of booking was pronounced a success. Tbe card for the closing day had for its feature the Grant Spring Brewery Handicap, at a mile, which was won easily by Martin Doyle from Scar-fell and Euripides, the only other starters.. The eligibility of Martin Doyle to start was questioned by tbe entry clerk, who claimed that Mr. Turney had not accepted the weight. The stewards heard the statements of the owner and others and ordered that the horse be allowed to start, saying it was clearly a misunderstanding on the part of the entry clerk. Tbe selling steeplechase over tbe long course was a farce as only one of tbe five that started managed to keep his feet and go tbe route without misliap. Going over tbe fourth jump Dawson lost his ruler; at the Liverpool Judge Carter fell and Picktfjne and Ruths Rattler stumbled oyer him, leaving oirly Gipsauo to run. Dawson, Picktime and Judge Carter were remounted, the former by Uagan, his jockey and tbe other by two outsiders and they finished within the time limit. J. Murphy was first to catch Picktime and lie took him -around tbe first turn out of the field. "When he came to the Liverpool, Picktime fell, rolling over the jockey. Murphy was picked up and after a hasty examination, was tent to the hospital. Picktime was again remounted and finished the course.
