Lee Harrison II. was always in closest pursuit and was hard ridden all of the last furlong, finished gamely, but could never get to the leader. Bonfire fenced poorly througli the first time around and was taken back and steadied, then went to the front after taking the ninth jump and outgamed Lights Out in the final drive. The latter, an excellent fencer, was a keen contender at all stages. Kuro tired in the last half and was eased up. Benlala fell at the eighth jump. The winner was entered for 500; no bid. Hands Around finished with a rush under the whip and easily disposed of the others. Work-a-Day was outrun for the first half, but closed a big gap in the stretch. Star Emblem was much used in following the fast pace set by the winner and tired badly in the last quarter. Banyah ran poorly. Ellicott quickly ran into the lead and showed great speed all the way, was steadied after opening a lengths lead in the first quarter, had plenty left when Main Chance challenged and drew away fast at the end. Main Chance was under a drive all of the last quarter and ran a fast and game race, but was unable to improve Ills position in the stretch drive. Colonel Jack was kicked on the off hind leg while at the post and met witli much interference during the running, but ran well and finished resolutely.. The Abbot quit in the last quarter. The latter came fast in the last furlong and easily disposed of Dolinda. Dolinda was made too much use of in following the wimier closely and tired in the stretch drive. De Reszke was cut off several times and was ridden with poor judgment. Thistle Do and Paeon quit after showing early speed. The winner was entered for S00; no bid. The latter finished gamely and was wearing the winner down. Warning, after being outrun for the first half, finished fast. Chief ilascs was a keen contender for six furlongs, then quit.
