AUTUMN HANDICAP TO GLIMMER. Detroit, Mich., October 12. Racing at Windsor this afternoon was very much of the Cuttenberg variety. The weather was cold and raw, and those who were unfortunate enough to leave their overcoats at home, shivered and shook all the afternoon. An excellent program had been provided, the features of which were the Autumn Handicap and u steeplechase over the short course. The Valley Farm Stable was very much In evi dence. , It provided the winner of the stake In the threc-ycar-ohl Glimmer, while the fast sprinter Ayr Water, captured, the sixth event in hdllow fashion. The steeplechase resulted in a scries of accidents and mishaps, one of the unfortunate ones being the heavily played favorite Lester L. Ilayman. At the second jump one of the stirrup leathers on Lester L. Ilaymans saddle became loosened from the hook which holds it hi place anil it dropped to the ground. The horse was pulled up. llaber got the better of his exercise boy while being warmed up for the sixth race and ran -away a mile and a half. He was excused by the judges and all bets were declared oil and twenty minutes allowed for new booking. The best field of sprinters that have started on a Canadian track this season went to the post in the first race, a six furlong condition affair. The winner turned up in Edgcly, which dashed to the front when the start came, and, after leading his field all the way, won easily from Goes Fast. Only four of the ten starters in the steeplechase finished the course without a mishap. Judge Nolan and Pieklinie lost their riders, Tony Hart refused, Lester L. Ilayman was pulled up, and Lulu Young broke down. , Glimmer proved an easy winner in the Autumn Handicap. In the "early running he was out-paced by Colonel Jack, but, rounding the far turn, he caught and passed the latter, and In the stretch run drew away without effort and won easily at the finish.
