BELMONT PARK STAKES THIS WEEK. One more week of racing at Belmont Park remains to be disposed of aid then the tale of the greater New York tracks for 1907 will have been told. A number of important stakes will be run in the "course of the week and, if the weather continues favorable, fast time and high class racing is to be expected. Two stake races, the Autumn Meadow Brook Steeplechase and the Westchester nighweight Handicap will be run tomorrow, the probable starters leing named elsewhere in this issue. The Rancho del Paso Stakes, at three-quarters for two-year-olds, will be run Tuesday. It has sixty-three nominations, of which Notasulga, Peter Quince, Resti-gouche, Jim. Gaffney, Halkct, Half Sovereign, Nimbus, Johnnie Blake, Live Wire, Doraute, Earl G., Bouquet, Uncle, Celt, Spooner, Ben Fleet, Desirous, Rdyal "Tourist and Faicada -afec the pick and sufficient to furnish a "grand race. Wednesday afternoon will briug about the decision of the Champagne Stakes at seven furlongs for two-year-olds and the New Rochelle Stakes at a mile for three-year-olds and over. Colin is in the Champagne and it is expected that lie will make his last tart of this year in it. His weight will be 122 pounds, tlie race being one of allowances, but no penalties. Besides him such good ones as Stamina, Fair Play, Jim Gaffney, Johnnie Blake, Uncle, Spooner, Faicada, Beaucoup, Cohort,- Notasulga and Half Sovereign are among the eligibles. The New Rochelle is a selling race and with Grapple, Security, Rye, Preen, Bad News, Acrobat, Hyperion II., Dreamer, Blandy, Tongorder, Rapid Water, Orphan Lad, Frank Lord, Sir Toddington, Smiling Ton" and Dolly Spanker among those that may go, a rapidly run mile may be looked for. Thursday has the Harbor Hill Cup Steeplechase for three-year-olds at about two miles and tlie Ramapo Handicap for three-year-olds at a mile and an eighth. The- Harbor .Hill is endowed with 3,000 and a cup by Clarence H. Mackay and, being considered a nursery for steeplechasers of the future, is an event of great interest to admirers of steeple-chasing. It has twenty-nine nominations of youngsters, concerning the real merits of which but little is known. The Ramapo nominations include such good ones as Montgomery, Gold Lady, Kentucky Beau, McCarter, Charles Edward,. Dick Fin-nell, Kennyetto, Ellicott, Yankee Girl, Fountainblue, Tourenne, Paumonok, Tony Faust, Perseverance and Monfort. The Fordhnm Highweight Handicap at seven-eighths of a mile is the only stake race set for Friday. Veil, Uncle, Kentucky Beau, McCarter, Jack Atkin, Far West, Brookdale Nymph, Baby Wolf, J. C. Core, Ben Ban, Dreamer, Cressina and Saracinesca are among the fast ones that may contest this race". The mcetingwill come to a close Saturday with a grand card that will Include the ninth Champion Steeplechase at about three miles and a half, the White. Plains Handicap at three-quarters for two-year-olds and the Belmont Park Weight for Age Race at two miles and a quarter for three-year-olds and" over. The Champion is to this country what the Liverpool Grand National is to England, the greatest and- most valuable Steeplechase Tim arinnaily. It lias 000 added and will bo contested by all the .crackumpers of the day.
