WOODBINE BOOKING CASES CONTINUED. Toronto. Ont.. June 11. —The cases of the bookmakers arrested at Woodbine have been continued until Monday next. Magistrate Klngsford has de cided not to admit evidence concerning what the bookmakers pay for privileges at Woodbine, and the case of the prosecution was demoralized by this decision, in rendering his decision excluding evidence concerning the bookmakers fees, the judge said: "I am trying Saunders, not the jockey club. If it was the cliib that was on trial it would be MCMMnrj to know that, but it is not material in order to find out whether Saunders was committing a breach of the gambling act or not." "Well, its vital to niv case." said the crown attorney. "Ill hay to have an adjournment to recast the staff inspectors case. The point is that if the lxKikmakors were assigned to any particular place, theu a breach of the act was committed." Attorney Kobinettc: "The only question as far as Saunders is concerned is whether he was allocated to any particular place on the grounds, and whether he slaved in that one spot." "Yes. that is my opinion on the question." responded Judge Kingsford. "I think it would be just as well to adjourn all the other cases until called on. and then the other bookmakers need not be called at all. unless a conviction Is secured against Saunders." This was agreed to by both counsel.
