RACE-GOERS ON COAST TAKE HEART. San Francisco. Cal.. June 16. — Local lovers of racing are deriving considerable comfort from the report that Thomas H. Williams, president of the New-California Jockey Club and mentor of the turf on the Pacific coast, has refused to allow the use of Oakland race track for an automobile meet, on the ground that he desires to keep the course In proper condition for the racing of horses. Mr. Williams is credited with the statement that he has completed definite plans for racing at Oakland next winter and that the jockey club will be able to carry them out.
