NO MORE FREE FIELD AT YONKERS. New York, July 10. Matt Winn, manager of the Empire City track, says that the field enclosure has been permanently abolished at the Yonkers race course.. Winn has had plans drawn for an extension of the grandstand roof about 200 feet south, underneath which there will be an open "paddock" where the oral speculators can transact business. The seating capacity of the present stand, which will hold about 7,000 persons, is believed to be sufficient, as the broad lawns can accommodate as manv more. Winn says that the "field" Is out of date", as far as Yonkers is concerned, and that racing can live well enough without it. While no definite policy has been mapped out by the other Jockey Club tracks. It is said that all of them will keep the cheap enclosures barred to the public for Borne time 1 to come, if not permanently.
