ROCKY OBRIEN AND HIS OWNER. Saratoga. N. Y August 17. Unless he should in the meantime go amiss, Kocky OBrien, winner of the Hopeful Stakes, will be a sure starter in the Futurity at Sheepshad Bay. Probably the most surprised man at the track when Kocky OBrien won the Hopeful was Mr. McManus. who started his colt with the idea that lie had only an outside chance. If Mr. MeManus luid lieeu confident of success, he says himself, he would have won a fortune in wagers. Mr. MeManus, by the way. did not have a dollar ten years or so ago. lie was n street-car conductor in California when he began attending the races. From measly little dollar liets. which were placed judiciously. Jlr. MeManus soon got a start and proceeded to win a fortune. He" is a nulet. unassuming fellow, fond of good horses and the excitement of tho race track. He says that If Kockv OBrien happens to win the Futurity he will be the happiest man in the world.
