PLEASING NEWS FROM EAST HARRY PAYNE WHITNEY FORWARDS STAKE ENTRIES FROM ENGLAND. Pick of tho Produce of Brookdale Farm Nominated for Future Fixtures of the Saratoga Association. Saratoga. N. Y.. August 17. The most important development of the present wonderful rejuvenation of racing in the east is the receipt by the Saratoga Racing Association from England today of forty-nine stake nominations made by Harry Pavne Wliitney. They are divided as follows: United States Hotel Stakes of 1910 Twelve en-tries. Grand Union notel Stakes of 1910 Twelve entries. Splnaway Stakes of 1910 Fourteen entries. Travels Stakes of 1911 Eleven entries. These stakes closed yesterday. There is general satisfaction because of this clearly defined token that Mr. Whitney is to resume racing in this country; on a liberal scale even if he does continue his experiment in racing In England. It Is anticipated that Messrs. Keene, Duryea and possibly Clarence II. Mackay will take the same course and it is quite probable that the majority of the American horses now in England and France will be brought home next fall and be available for American racing next year. Full particulars of the Whitney nominations are not now available, but it is known that they include yearlings by Hamburg from Forget. Ihiisy F.. Blue Girl, Hurly Burly and Endnrance by Right: by Her-mis Braw Lass; by Sandringham Ballyhoo: bv Adam Sallle of Navarre, Belle of Troy and Irish Reel. Four are by Riley and Broomstick is also represented. There had been an impression that Mr. Whitney was intending to devote the best resources of his Brookdale Stud to the English turf, at least for several years, to come, leaving only the culls to race hero. Injustice has evidently been done liim in entertaining an opinion so derogatory to liis patriotism and care for the good of the turf In his native land. It is a sutlicient refutal that in these nominations he has included the produce of the stars of the big baud of broodmares at Brookdale Stud.
