CANADAS NEW RACING ORGANIZATION. Toronto. Out.. August 17. As outlined by one of the Incorporators, the Metropolitan Racing Association, which lias just received a federal charter from the Canadian authorities, proposes to conduct racing in Montreal. Quebec. Toronto and Winnipeg. The association, according to the gentleman in question, has ample funds to go ahead and already lias lieen actively working for the securing of proper grounds in the four cities in which it intends to hold racing. In Toronto. Dufferin Park is regarded with favor, and it is most likely its racing will be carried on there, while in the other cities options have been secured on desirable property. The racing will be of a mixed variety, running and trotting, but running will predominate. Under its federal charter, the association will have the right to allow book-making. The details have not been fully worked out as vet nor is it known when actual operations will commence in any of the four cities. Neither is it settled nor is any information obtainable as to the length of time the meetings will consume. 1. E. Callen, one of the incorporators of the new venture, was a former president of the York Driving Club, and it is also understood that A. M. Orpen. who financed the recent meeting at Dulferin Park, is interested in the Metropolitan Association.
