Chief Hayets, after nearest and strenuous pursuit of the pacemaker, outstayed the others for second place in a long closing drive. Rubia Granda. away poorlv. trailed in a far rearward position for half of the journey and closed a big gap in the stretch in a fast finish. Eyebrlght, away poorly and outpaced early, made a lielated fast stretch rush. May Amelia, well up to the stretch, tired and probably was short. Racquet, sliullled steadily to the rear under inadequate riding, seemed unable to raise a respectable gallop. Bonnie Kelso began poorly and was bumped and ear-riod out by Pins and Needles on the first turn, then ran well up to midway of the stretch, but was never actually menacing for first place and tired badly in the closing drive. Pins and Needles, well tip for the" lirst mile dropped hack and failed to stay and had no mishaps. Choirmaster of Chesterhrook led on stitTer-ance for five furlongs and held on In a forward position for another quarter but, after being passed by Gliding Belle, quit badly.
