i SPECIAL FEATURES FOR HAVANA RACING NEW YORK, N. Y., October 27. General manager Frank J. Brucn is so well pleased with the number and quality of the horses already booked for shipment to Oriental Park for the meeting of the Cuba-American Jockey and Auto Club of Havana that he announced yesterday his intention of adding feature races of substantial values to the programs of every Sunday and holiday through the winter meeting, which will open on Thanksgiving Day, November 30, and continue for 100 days or more. Secretary Martin Nathanson, whose generous program had already attracted the attention of horsemen, has been instructed to frame special races, with added values of ,000 and ,500. The first of these will be run on Thanksgiving Day. Coming as a voluntary offering on the part of the management, these contests will contribute materially to the success of the meeting, although they involve an average distribution of ,500, on the day on which they are raced. Mr. Nathanson is a past master in his profession and always has an accurate knowledge of the racing material at his command. He may be depended upon to bring to the post in these specials, which will close a few days before their decision, every horse of quality that is on the grounds and ready to race. The innovation of doing away with stake features and increasing the value of the overnight races adopted by the Oriental Park management made a great hit with horsemen when Mr. Brucn outlined his policy two months ago. It means sharper, keener racing, and a wider distribution of the moneys offered for the hundred day period, and cannot fail to be of material assistance in popularizing Havana as a winter racing point.
