j STARS IN COVINGTON HANDICAP I In Kentucky ten of the best horses in training in the West have been named to try conclusions in the Covington Handicap at one mile and three-sixteenths, the 5,000 added stake fixture that will have its third running this afternoon. The race will be a contest strictly between the Western owned horses, as the Easterners have not sent any of their cracks to make a bid for the prize. Firebrand, with only 108 pounds up, won the stake last year when he led home Aphie Dear, Lady Madcap and others, and ran the mile and three-sixteenths in 1:57, one and two-fifths seconds slower than Best Pals traqk record. Indications are for fair weather and a fast track prevailing, while the attendance is expected to be of record proportions. P.P. Horse. Wt. Rider. Owner. Trainer. 1 Cherry Tree.. 102 B. Kennedy M.
