CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF J. W. Pangle has gone to Laurel in quest of material for a winter campaign in Cuba. Jockey Lang, the leading rider of the year, is handicapped at present by an injury to his collar bone. Jockey Lawrence Lyke returned to Laurel Friday night to ride Cherry Pie in his engagement there Saturday. E. Brewster will ship T. W. OBriens Shamrock to Pimlico and he will be fitted for the 0,000 Pimlico Futurity. Kay Spence, in a message to the Bowie management, has entered Rockminister, Surf Rider, Rouleau, Miss Joy and Fair Phantom in the stakes to bo decided at Prince George Park. N. L. Bjer reports that a yearling by George Smith Winning Witch was taken sick en n ute from Saratoga to Red Bank, N. J., and died. The youngster is said to have fhown high promise. A class of the University of Maryland, in charge of their professors, were visitors at Laurel Park Thursday morning. The students inspected the stables and were interested observers in the care and training of the thoroughbreds, which will be used in class work. William Garth, acting for J. S. Cosden, has disposed of four yearlings at private terms. W. J. Daley secured two, one a filly byj Maintenant Dillbara and the other a colt by Berrilldon Stalwart Helen. Clyde Phillips secured one, a colt by Wrack Mary Agnes, and James Arthur secured the remaining one, by Crimper Flora Finch. Garth will go into winter quarters with twenty-four -yearlings.
