SIR LAWNFAL began fast and showed the most speed, but was tiring in the last eighth and barely lasted to win. BULLION began slowly and was forced to race wide, but came fast through the last quarter and would have won in a few strides more. SAM REH closed a gap and ran a good race. LOCARNO came fast in the last quarter. BLUE PARADISE had no mishaps. COL. TAYLOR set a fast early pace and quit badly in the last quarter. Won driving; second and third tha same. GRASS MAID, under an energetic rider, showed fine speed after beginning fast and racing into the lead, holding it gamely during the final drive. GOLDEN BILLOWS moved up with a rush after going the first quarter and outstayed MISS COLLETTE. The latter responded well to hard riding in the stretch. PRESTOLITE set a fast early pace, but began tiring in the last eighth. THELMA K. was always outrun. MARY MAXIM came from far back, after saving much ground on the turns. BILL AND COO was buffeted about and had to come wide in the stretch, costing her third place. PIRATE McGEQ closed a gap. NORTH TOWER was knocked out of any chance on the first turn. BRITISH LINER quit badly.
