BUMPER CROWD AT TOLEDO Ladies Day Responsible for Large Attendance Favorites to the Fore. TOLEDO. Ohio, October 27. Summer weather again prevailed today and it being ladies day the large stand was filled to capacity. Favorites again held sway, winning the majority of the races. The program was lacking a feature, but the best field of the day was mustered together in the fifth race, at a mile, in which J. Leonards Assume, accounting for his second race at the meeting, was the winner. Ridden by Fator, he was away forwardly, but elected to let Jacobina set the pace. This order was maintained until they had straightened away in the homestretch, then Fator released a wrap and Assume easily went to the front, but in the meantime Lucy Kate was looming dangerously on the outside. However, Assume still had plenty left and, after being shaken up, easily held the others safe at the finish. This completed a double win for Fator, who had previously won on Noonhour. Jockey E. Petzoldt divided the honors with Fator, also piloting a pair of winners. Jockeys Dishmon and Jones were each fined 5 and T. Burns 0 by starter Miller for disobedience at the barrier.
