, I GENERAL TURF NEWS P. S. P. Randolph has purchased from A. H. Morris the plater Jolly. J. B. Campbell is motoring to Toronto via Pittsburgh. The stables of J. K. L, Ross, Silas Veitch and the Kenton Stable left for Toronto Sunday. Following the running of the Emerson Steeplechase Friday E. K. Bryson purchased the jumper Cavendish from K. Smart at private terms. William Shields, showing remarkable improvement since his recent illness, motored over from his home in Philadelphia to witness the running of the Preakness. Shields has planned a trip to Toronto to witness the running of the Kings Plate and following a two weeks vacation at Jamaica. William Garth is enthusiastic over the prospects of Crochet as a brood mare. Crochet is a sister to the good mare Embroidery and her breeder, A. B. Hancock, has made Garth a standing offer of ,000 any time he wishes to dispose of her. Her first mating will be this year and the stallion will be one from the several at J. S. Cosdens farm at Warrenton, Va. Herman Flippen came over from his home at Clinton, Va., to help root home the Vir- ginia representative saddled by William Garth in the Preakness. Mr. Flippen has a pack of hounds and two good hunters at his place and his sterling brood mare Toots. A yearling filly and a suckling colt, both by Wrack, are at the farm.
