J f The Westchester Racing Associations au- l tumn mqeting of thirteen days was featured by the running of International Special No. 1 1, in which Wise Counsellor defeated the French champion, Epinard. with one of the largest crowds in the history of the American turf in attendance. j The Belmont Park management distributed J the great sum of 05,435 in stakes and l purses during the meeting, the daily average l distribution amounting to 3,495, a record unsurpassed. j H. P. Whitney tops the list of the winning f owners particularly . in the . meeting. His horses won 1,830, the richest turf prize of the year to date, the Futurity, being included 1 among the victories. The Belair Stud Sta- ble was second with G,970. The name of j F. A. Burton, the Chicago sportsman, appears on such a list for the first time as Wise i Counsellor was run in his name in the In- -ternational Special instead of J. S. Ward. j Wise Counsellors success over Epinard added 9,000 to the resources of the Burton- , Ward confederacy. Mother Goose won the Futurity, which i this year paid 5,730, the second largest prize in the history of that valuable fixture. Potomacs Futurity in 1890 paid 7j675. As : a result of this glorious conquest Mother Goose heads the list of money winning ; horses of the Belmont Park meeting. i J. Maiben ruled supreme among the jockeys i riding thirteen winners out of forty-four mounts for the high percentage of .30. S. C. Hildreth saddled the largest number of winners among the trainers. Here are the complete statistics of the meeting, the first tabulation embracing the records of the owners, who won 00.00 or more each : Owner. 1st. 2d. 3d. Amt. Whitney, H.
