SIX FAVORITES IN FRONT Form Followers Have Field at Maple Heights Track. Hercules Only Choice to Fail Double Victory for C. X. Freeman Three for Flag Lieutenant. MAPLE HEIGHTS PARK, CLEVELAND, Ohio, Sept 18. Due to the success of six favorites out of the seven events the form followers had a real field day at Maple Heights Park this afternoon. Hercules, which failed to run up to his best recent form, in the concluding race was the only one to disappoint the faithful followers. The winner turned up in Great Northern which marked his third victory of this meeting and he left no doubt as to which was the best horse, winning in commanding style. Clyde Freeman scored a double. Belario showed a flash of his old-time form after a long let-up and carried his colors to victory in the fifth event in which he was outpaced to the stretch. In the run home after disposing of Kimax and Super King he held Walespa safe at the end. Reluctant was the other Freeman starter to earn brackets. Jockey V. Swanson who has been riding in good form of late escaped injury when his mount Verdi Loon stumbled and unseated him at the start of the fifth race. Vanity Dresser showed the way by a comfortable margin throughout the sixth race. Lieutenant Perkins was easily best of the others. Flag Lieutenant scored his third successive victory during this meeting when he annexed the opening dash. He followed the pacemaker, Esther Grindell, until straightened out in the stretch then moved up next thf inner rail, and drew away handily in the last sixteenth. Esther Grindell had no serious opposition for second place as Benitas chances were wrecked when she was pinched off nearing the stretch turn. After being outpaced in the early stages Jacobean ran over the leaders in the stretch and won the second in a romp. In a driving finish Riposta, the pacemaker, saved second from Carrie Baker. Reluctant came from far back to capture the third. He was shuffled back to last position in the first quarter, but gained with good courage through the stretch and won going away. Virge, a keen factor throughout, held Cavalier safe for second. Taking command at once Knot Grass held his opponents safe throughout the running of the fourth. Cobham closed up much ground in the last quarter and easily disposed of Feodor for second place during the stretch run. Following the running of this race Cob-ham went to the stable of T. V. Mountjoy on his claim of ,100. Hercules was claimed for ,300 out of the seventh race, by G. W. Willard.
