FLAG LIEUTENANT, after setting the eaily pace, closed up on the inside in the stretch and, overhauling ESTHER GRINDELL in the final eighth, won going away. ESTHER GRINDELL displayed a high flight of speed and, taking the lead, kept it until midway of the stretch, but tired when challenged. BENITA was sharply pinched off when racing in a contending position and approaching the stretch turn. BLUE GOOSE quit badly after showing early speed.
