DR. HICKMAN AT BEST 9 Leads His Opponents Merry Chase in Auroras Feature. Proves Too Fast for Moss Fox II. and Doc Horn Fine Weather, Large Crowd, Good Sport. AURRORA, 111., Sept 18. Warm sunshine greeted the large crowd that journeyed out to witness the sport at Exposition Park today. The card was a good one and was featured with the Lubliner and Trinz Theater Handicap, at five and a half furlongs, with a value of ,000. There was an increase of two layers over yesterday. The track was lightning fast. Dr. Hickman was the winner of the Lubliner and Trintz Handicap, the feature race. He led from start" to finish and equaled the track record, running the distance in 1 :0G. W. C. Weants Moss Fox II. was the one to finish second, with Doc Horn, carrying the . silks of Mrs. A. F. Dayton, third. Go Foin and Dustabout, the other two starters finished in the order name. Bell lostandno time in sending Dr. Hickman to the front, with Doc Horn forcing the pace and Moss Fox II. in advance of the others. Rounding the turn Boganowski sent Moss Fox II. up to second place with a rush on the inside, Doc Horn dropping back to third. It was apparent at the stretch turn that old Dr. Hickman had plenty of speed left, for when Moss Fox II. made a bid Bell just shook up his mount and the Doctor increased his lead to a length and a half, which he retained to the finish. Moss Fox II. was an easy second, holding Doc Horn safe. OUTSIDER ROME FIRST. The opening race, a five-eights dash for two-year-olds, fell to the outsider, Bay Dingle with J. L. Pauls June Day second and Billy Welch third. After a b.rief delay they were off in good order. Black Dinah was the first to show out of the bunch with Billy Welch and Test of Time right at her heels. Saucier sent Bay Dingle to the lead at the stretch turn and won going away by a length, while June Day was a length and a half in front of Billy Welch, which beat Black Dinah by a nose for third place; Nine maidens answered the call for the second race, a three-quarters sprint and it fell to Spontaneous, carrying the silks of J. Rotunno, with Keaolani second and Hasty Miss third. Off in good order Taylor sent Spontaneous into a commanding lead. Keaolani forcing the pace and Woodland Queen showing the way to the others. Turning out of the backstretch Gross sent Keaolani up to even terms with Spontaneous but Taylor shook his mount up and he opened up a good lead. Hasty Miss which had been off none too good, had run up to third position. However, it was strictly a three-horse race from the eighth post home with Spontaneous an easy winner by three lengths and Keaolani a nose in front of Hasty Miss for second place. EASY FOR ARABIAN. Arabian was the winner of the third race at one mile and an eighth and he simply made a show of his company, winning with ridiculous ease. Mrs. J. Dreyers Okeechobee was second and Townsend was third. No time was lost at the start and Lothair went to the front going round the first turn when Glanmore, the heavily supported choice, ran to the outside fence eliminating him from contention. Townsend was following the pace and Arabian was leading the others. Gantner sent Arabian to the front at the stretch turn and he kept increasing until he was five lengths in front and then let his mount gallop home an easy winner by six lengths ahead of Okeechobee which was .four lengths in advance of Townsend. Boganowski and old Top o th Morning proved a winning combination in the fifth. The veteran was a topheavy favorite and the first choice to score for the talent The Tain OShanter Stables Virgo was second and C. Koerners Ontario was third. Ontario was the one to show the way in the race, going to the front at the start Top o th Morning was running second and Virgo third. Rounding the turn out of the backstretch Boganowski moved up with the Weant gelding, and he collared the pacemaker before turning into the stretch. Top o th Morning opened up a good lead, which brought him to the front first, two lengths ahead of Virgo, which beat the tiring Ontario a length and a half for second place. Victor M. was beaten a nose for third. The closing race fell to E. E. Majors Mark Denunzio, which led from -start to finish, with Heavy Artiller second and Archie Alexander third. Again C. Gross showed the art of making a quitter stick when he kept old Mark Denunzio in front all the way in tho this race. The start was a bad one. North Pino and Marine Corps being practically eliminated.
