. THEYRE _ , _ a OFF AT « AURORA ,o, TODAY Everything Ready for Twenty-One Days of Sparkling Racing 1 Seven Well Filled Races for Opening Program— Good Field Named for Inaugural Handicap --- Miami System of Wagering to Be Used — Big Crowd Expected From Chicago — i AURORA. ILL., June 3. — Everything is In readiness for the opening of the twenty-one day meeting to be given under the auspices of the Exposition Park Jockey Club, which starts tomorrow. The numerous stalls on the grounds are filled to overflowing and stabling accommodation is at a premium, the management being forced to turn down several late applicants. The heavy rain of early morning deadened the track to some extent and it is Lkely that the opening days program will be run over a slow track. Seven well filled races make up the initial card and some fine contests may be looked for. The feature attraction, the Inaugural Handicap, with its purse of ,000, has attracted eight of the best horses quartered at the course and the entry of L. T. Cooper, the Miami sportsman, will undoubtedly rule public choice. Three horses have been entered to carry the silks of Mr. Cooper, they being Bonnie Omar, which was purchased from B. Reuge this spring and is rated as one of the best handicap horses here; Slice, which Mr. Cooper acquired fiom C. Buxton at Miami last winter, and Broomster, formerly of the H. P. Whitney stable and a high-class animal. Opposed to them will be Dustabout, which showed good form at Maple Heights; Gold Mount, with a liking for the slow going; Lady Inez. The Cheetah Und Und Chemiserie, and although the Cooper establishment appears to have the purse at its mercy, one of these may upset calculations. The second and fourth races are filled to overflowing with the cheaper grade of horses, but like in all the others the prospective contestants are well matched. The official family is complete and includes such well-known names as those of J. F. Monck, H. Conkling and M. N. McFarlane as stewards and Charles Campau. Arthur Blan-chard and Francis Dunne as judges. H. Mor-rissey, whose good work at the barrier is known to all race fans, will do the starting, while Arthur Blanchard will be clerk of the scales. MIAMI SYSTEM OF WAGERING. The same system of speculation that was used at Miami last winter and which proved so popular at that point, will be used here. A large totalizer has been erected in front of the stand for the convenience of the public. The management has spared no effort to give the public the best accommodations and service possible and will undoubtedly be rewarded with a large turnout when the bugle blows to call the thoroughbreds to the post in the first race at 1:15 central standard time, 2:15 Chicago daylight saving time. E. Thomas, assistant to starter Harry Mor-rissey, will school horses at the barrier between the hours of 8:30 and 9:30 a. m. John Hoole will handle K. Hoaglands book. A. S. "Kid Roos is an arrival. He will stay for the meeting. June Day, Auntie Millin and two two-year-olds, the property of J. L. Iaul. were shipped j from Louisville on Monday night and are expected to arrive today. June Day underwent an operation for wind trouble a week : ago and is said to be progressing favorably. Jockey F. Kehrt. who has been riding in good form at Muunt Royal, is expected in today. The boy will ride for S. T. Baxter. *
