FLAG OF TRUCE THE VICTOR Scores by Narrow Margin in Feature Race of Holiday Card at Connaught Park. OTTAWA. Ont., June 3.— The E. J. Morrow stable, which is being trained by Elmer James, a famous jockey a decade ago, both in the States and abroad, scored another victory when Hag of Truce beat a band of good sprinters in the Whirlaway Handicap, which featured the program provided holiday racegoers at Connaught Park this afternoon. Flag of Truce, ridden by O. Bourassa. followed his rivals until straightened out in the home stretch when he came from behind to finish with a rush. He caught the leaders tiring at the end in a driving finish and beat Ten Sixty by naif a length. Digit was third another neck away. Kennedy rode an ill-judged race on Digit. He kept his mount down in .the inside the entire way. The footing was deep and heavy in this part of the track and Digit tired badly. Heeltaps began slowly and tired i i the going. Today was the Kings birthday and a holiday in Canada. An immense crowd turned out to witness the sport. Weather conditions were perfect and the track ci iditions kept improving as the afternoon progressed. The first claim of the mooting was made yesterday when P. E. Fitzgerald li ok Asa Jewell out of the seventh :aie for il.200. Jockey J. Allen has been refused a license by the stewards of the Canadian Pacing Associations.
