Twenty Years Ago Today Chief Turf Events of June 4, 1905 Sunday- No racing. Delhis dam, Vera, proved barren this y*ar and was again bred to Ben Brush. She his had two foals sine? the coming of the Brooklyn Handicap winner. AH owners of Eastern two year-olds aro congratulating themselves that Fred Cooks George C. Bennett, the conqueror of Voor-heej in the Manhasset Stakes, is in neither tho Great American or Tremont Stakes. Optinie, dam of Sysonby, has been bred this season to Disguise II. This mare now has a bay filly by this horse at side. She was barren in 1904, so there is no yearling half-sister or brother to James R. Keenes great three-year old this season at Castleton Stud. Just what disposition will be made of tho stock at Nantura Farm has not been decided by the Hawkins boys but it is likely that they will put all the horses on the market in the fall. An air of desolation hangs over the famous old place at this time. For several yeara before the death of Harper his failing eyesight a made him totally oblivious to the appearance of the farm and his failure to keep up the improvements caused the farm to become run down. Even the graves of Longfellow and Ten Brocck, the spots he loved so well, were seriously neglected by him, and the costly marble monuments which marke the resting place show sad neglect, and it appears as if Nantura died with its owner.
