Russells recently acquired Sweepstakes accounted for the fifth and feature attraction at Brooklyn Park this afternoon when he scored a handy victory over Clever Seth, after the latter had shown the way to the stretch. Dalton as usual began slowly and closed considerable ground to be third, but never threatened the leaders. The intense heat continued today, but a good crowd was in attendance. C. N. Freerr.nn scored his third victory of the meeting when Waukeag beat liveliness and Itah through the stretch to win the sixth race handily. The winner was fortunate in finding an opening next the inner rail when the stretch was reached. Florianka proved the biggest surprise of the meeting when she annexed the opening dash from Willies Maid and Gen. Ginockio. Willies Maid suffered early interference, which injured her chances of victory-Taking command in the first eighth Chopsticks had the speed of his opponents for the remainder of the way in the second.
