STORM HITS OMAHA TRACK Blows Down Judges Stand, But None Are Injured — Crowd of 7,000 for Inauguration. OMAHA. Neb., June 3. — Despite the fact that dark clouds threatened a severe downpour of rain, the race loving public of Omaha turned out in large numbers here today to welcome back the return of the thoroughbred. Long before the first bugle call was sounded there was estimated that close to 7,500 spectators had filed through the gates of Ak-Sar-Ben Park and these waxed enthusiastic as the racing during the afternoon progressed. As the horses paraded to the post In the fourth race rain fell in torrents and it was with difficulty that the colors were distinguished. This was followed by a high gale, which blew down the judges stand and created other havoc. Fortunately no one was injured. The Inaugural. Handicap, a dash of five and a half furlongs, was postponed twenty minutes until the storm subsided. When the horses were called to the post the track was ■ soa of mud. The race resulted in a somewhat easy victory for Idle Seth. which dominated the running from the start. He only had to be shaken up through the final eighth to hold My Reverie and Ix rena Marcellia. his stal lemate. safe. The Jones Stock Farm ttahle scored a double when their crack colt Captain Seth took the measure of Driftwood Blaze and Private Seth.
