LEASE ADDITIONAL LAND Illinois Jockey Club Secures 51 Acres Near Homewood Property for Auto Parkway. Robert M. Sweitzer, president of the Illinois Jockey Club, announces that that organization has secured from the Illinois Central Railroad a twenty-year lease and easement of fifty-one acres of land adjoining Washington Park Race Track at Homewood. The document also carried option of purchase. The present estimated value of the land is ,000 per acre. Consideration is not disclosed. This acquisition brings the holdings of the Jockey Club to a total of 206 acres. A. R Clift, senior vice-president of the Illinois Central, acted for the railroad company, and attorney John G. Drennan negotiated the transaction for the Illinois Jockey Club. Extending 1,610 feet along Ridge Road, south of the land already occupied by Washington Park race track, this area will be used for automobile parking space, and will accomodate 5.000 machines.
